Opening reception for exhibition “Moonlight Cocktails are the Thing.” Purdue University Galleries. 5:30 pm in Robert L. Ringel Gallery, Stewart Center. Peter Olson, assistant director of Northern Illinois University Art Museum will discuss David Driesbach’s work.

Traffic lights, chandeliers, top hats and tubas are props in the theatre of David Driesbach's imagination. His colorful and varied imagery populates a landscape of art historical references and self-portraiture. This 50-year retrospective includes original intaglios and lithographs, along with printing plates and working proofs, providing access to Driesbach's complete creative process. In addition, Moonlight Cocktails Are The Thing highlights important biographical events, providing insight into the origins of his psychological imagery.

The exhibition was co-organized by the Northern Illinois University Art Museum and the NIU Graduate Museum Studies Program.
